Companies from Gribskov showed students job opportunities
On February 4, HYDRO-CON, among other companies from Gribskov, participated in a business minimum at the Gribskolen. The purpose was to make pupils from the 7th and 8th grade clearer about the many different opportunities for jobs in the municipality and what the future may bring. The course has also been an introduction for students to choose an internship.
Mini fair at Grib school in Græsted
About 70 students participated in groups of 5-7 on each team, as well as 6 companies from North Zealand. The companies each had a booth where they told the groups about what types of jobs they could expect within their company, what skills were needed and how the young people could prepare and think about how they get started in narrowing down what they want to do, to be ready for the future.
HYDRO-CON's stand
HYDRO-CON participated by presenting 4 key roles in our company; a production employee, a fitter, engineer and manager. For all the roles, it was discussed with the young people what competencies were needed, what one should have of interests in order to be suited the position, etc. The young people were very committed and questioning. They had also prepared questions themselves.
In addition, Ulrik, who was representing HYDRO-CON, had brought along a setup with an elevator control so the youngsters could see how it works, play with it and try to program it. It seems that they were extremely excited about this as they could relate to it, as they themselves had been assigned to program a Lego minimumworm robot at school shortly before.
Finally, the young were quized with some fun questions and calculations about elevators, such as how long it would take an elevator to ride over a given height, how much it weighed overall, etc.
Collaboration between Gribskov job center and the school
The entire setup was organized by Gribskov job center in collaboration with the school, and is a course that extends throughout the year, where the young people in the future will have to work and learn about how to write an application, prepare for internships, etc. Thanks to the Job Center and Grib School for inviting us, and especially thanks to the young people for being full of motivation, curiosity and commitment! It was great!
Other companies that participated included Duemose, Fog wood, SCT transport, Metro water heater, etc.
